Hey everyone! I'm looking for some help with my girlfriend's computer. I'm not a native English speaker, so please bear with me. We used to play games together after work, but now her PC keeps restarting when she plays. This happens randomly after a few minutes, anywhere from 2 to 10. A while back, she had the same issue, and we managed to fix it by reinstalling her graphic card drivers in safe mode a few times. Recently, I got her a 1440p monitor, and I'm wondering if lowering the screen resolution, both in the system settings and in-game, could help resolve this issue. I've also heard that faulty RAM can be a problem, but I don't think that's the case for us. I ran some diagnostics and couldn't find anything. Assuming the monitor isn't causing the trouble, does anyone have other ideas or solutions? Here are her PC specs:
- Motherboard: Gigabyte B550M
- CPU: Ryzen 5 5600
- RAM: 2x16GB 3200MHz CL16 DDR4
- Graphic Card: RX 6650XT
- PSU: Itek BD600 (600W)

You should check the event viewer and use BluescreenView. These tools can tell you why the PC is crashing, and might give you better insight than just guessing here.
What are the CPU temperatures like? Check both idle and under load. You’d want to make sure it’s not overheating when gaming.
Have you experienced any BSOD (Blue Screen of Death) errors? Sometimes that can give clues about what's going wrong.
Consider undervolting the GPU using MSI Afterburner. However, my gut feeling is that the GPU might be the root of the problem—could be overheating or failing.
It sounds like there might be a faulty power supply unit (PSU) causing those restarts. Usually, driver issues only lead to screen flickering, not full restarts. This could mean it's struggling to deliver enough power to the components. If possible, try testing with a different PSU to see if that helps.
