I was using my iPhone 13 normally when it unexpectedly shut off without any warning, and I didn't see the Apple logo or loading icon appear. It's been about 20 minutes, and it still won't respond at all. I've tried turning it on and even attempted a hard reset, but nothing happens. I suspect it might be related to overheating since I was charging it and got that 'charging will resume...' notification about an hour ago. After unplugging it and letting it cool for about 30 minutes, I plugged it back in without any issues until it just shut off. I haven't updated the software beyond the last update. Any advice on what I should do?

It sounds like your iPhone might have overheated while charging. A good first step is to check your battery health. Was the phone in a case? Were you using an official cable? Sometimes trying a different charger helps too. I had a similar issue once after leaving my phone in the car during a heatwave. I took it inside, removed the case, and put it in the fridge for about 30 minutes, and it revived. Maybe give that a shot?
I once had an iPad that just stopped charging out of the blue, and it was pretty frustrating. I didn’t get AppleCare, still wonder if it’s a strategy by Apple when it comes to older devices. Just throwing that out there!
You know, I got that trade-up notification just yesterday, too! It's probably just a coincidence, but it does make me a bit suspicious.
Have you checked if you ran out of memory? Sometimes lack of storage can cause phones to behave strangely. If that's the case, you might want to clear out some space, but I get that it’s not starting up for you right now. Any luck with a hard reboot?
That might be it, since I was running low on space. I have no way to clear it out if the phone won't turn on, though. Tried the hard reboot too, but still nothing.

I thought about that, but it’s been over an hour and it’s still not turning on. It’s actually pretty cold right now, and the phone was just warm when it shut off. I tried the fridge too, but no luck.
