My Laptop Shut Down Abruptly and Won’t Turn Back On—What Should I Do?

I was working on some digital art using Krita while also having Discord and Opera GX open, plus a few tabs in Opera. Suddenly, while switching back to Opera, my laptop turned off completely and the screen went black. I noticed it was at 5% battery when I switched tabs, but it was plugged in at the time. Now it won't charge at all and doesn't show any indicators, like a low battery symbol. My roommate mentioned that using a different charging cord might have caused this issue—I've been using my phone's charger instead of my usual one, both being USB-C. Did I damage my battery by using the wrong cord? How can I fix this? I've tried unplugging everything and holding the power button for 20 seconds, but no luck. I'm now leaving it plugged in with a compatible charger as a last-ditch effort, but the charging indicator light isn't on.

Using the incorrect charger can definitely mess with your battery. I recommend leaving it plugged in overnight with your original charger. If that doesn't work, try removing the battery for a while and then reconnecting it. If it's still unresponsive, you might need to consider replacing the battery or taking it into a repair shop.

First, what's the brand and model of your laptop? Also, check if there’s a charging indicator light. If nothing lights up when it's plugged in, the battery might really be dead or the USB-C port could be damaged. It's a good idea to find the manufacturer's reset instructions online. If you have a standard power adapter, try using that too.
