Yesterday, while I was using my HP Victus laptop, it unexpectedly shut down without any warning and without feeling hot at all. I initially thought it might have overheated, but now I'm not so sure. The indicator light that shows if the battery is charging isn't responding at all. Normally, if the battery is full, it lights up white, and it turns orange when it's less than 100%, but right now, it's not showing any light. I left it to cool off for about 20 hours, but it still won't turn on. I've tried draining any remaining battery, but nothing works. I'm worried it might be something serious, especially since the warranty is long gone and I've already had a look inside. My specs include an 800GB SSD, a 3050 RTX, an Intel Core i5, and 16GB of RAM. What could be the issue and how worried should I actually be?

It sounds like your laptop might be dealing with a power issue rather than overheating. If the charge light isn't coming on at all, it could be a problem with the charger, the battery connection, or possibly even the motherboard. I'd suggest trying a different, working charger first because dead chargers can cause the laptop to seem completely lifeless. If that doesn’t help, you can try disconnecting the battery, holding the power button for about 30-60 seconds while unplugged, and then connect the charger again. If there are still no signs of life, you might need to worry about a deeper issue with the power circuitry.
It can happen, but it’s rare. Sometimes the signs can be subtle until they aren’t anymore. Keeping an eye on battery performance can help catch issues early.
I feel for you; that’s a tough situation. If you’re sure the laptop was plugged in when it turned off, you should definitely check the charger and the DC jack. It’s common for these parts to fail without warning. Maybe you can borrow a charger from someone to test it out? Also, consider the possibility of a loose connection inside if you've already opened it up. These kinds of issues can be challenging, but don’t lose hope yet!
Exactly! And remember, sometimes a complete reset can work wonders. Good luck getting it sorted!
Thanks! I’ll definitely try these suggestions and hope it’s not too serious.

Thanks for the advice! Can something like a motherboard issue happen so suddenly without warning? I’ve never noticed any other problems before.
