My Laptop’s Stuck in BSOD After an Update—Help!

I recently shut down my laptop due to a Windows 10 automatic update, and now it won't connect to any networks. I've been trying to fix this issue using various online suggestions. One of them was to turn off the laptop, hold the power button for 10 seconds to drain the battery, then plug the charger back in and start it again. However, after doing this, my laptop is now showing a blue screen with the stop code: CRITICAL_PROCESS_DIED. It keeps trying to diagnose and repair but fails repeatedly. I can't access the troubleshooting page because it requires a password that I can't enter, even though I'm sure it's correct. I can get to the startup settings, but nothing seems to be working. I really need my computer to study for tests coming up. Any advice would be hugely appreciated!

You might want to check for any crash logs (dump files) that could help diagnose the BSOD issue. If you can boot into Windows normally or through Safe Mode (check out online guides for that), go to C:WindowsMinidump. If there are dump files, zip that folder and upload it to a file-sharing site—some like catbox.moe are working well right now. Having multiple files is better for analysis, so follow guides on adjusting your dump settings if you only have one or none. This will help get to the bottom of the problem!

Just to clarify your draining process: You need to disconnect the battery and hold the power button to drain any remaining power. If issues persist, try to boot into Safe Mode, logging in with an admin account, and uninstall the most recent update. This might help you get back into Windows without the BSOD.

Have you tried accessing Safe Mode or resetting your PC from the troubleshooting options? I know you mentioned some repair processes, but they're different from a full reset. If neither option works, you might need to create a bootable flash drive to reinstall the OS.

It sounds like the Windows update may have corrupted your system files. If you have a backup, you can restore it by going to Advanced Options and then selecting System Restore to revert to a date before the update. However, I understand you can't access that option without the correct password.
