My Lenovo LOQ Laptop Keeps Throwing Disk Write Errors After SSD Changes, What Should I Do?

Hey everyone, I'm really at a loss here. I bought a Lenovo LOQ laptop and got an SSD on the same day (February 21). I've been trying to install some games from Steam onto the SSD, but I keep running into a frustrating issue. After downloading a few games, the Steam app starts to slow down and eventually the downloads stop, showing a "Disk write error". Furthermore, when I try to launch the games I've already downloaded, I get an error message saying, "an error occurred while launching this game: Invalid platform." I've changed the SSD four times already and now I just swapped it for a fifth one. I'm scared to try downloading again, fearing the same problems will crop up. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

I think you definitely need to provide more details. What's the exact model and specifications of your laptop? And what brand and model of SSD are you using? Are you running one drive for everything, or do you have a separate one for games? That info could really help diagnose the issue.

I have the Kingston 1TB NV3 M.2 NVMe 2280 PCIe 4.0 SSD. Right now, I’m just using one drive for everything and trying to keep the other SSD mainly for larger games.

If you’ve already changed your SSD that many times, it might not even be an SSD issue at this point. Maybe you should investigate the laptop's system more closely!

I've done that as well. Lenovo's premium support also inspected the system and repaired it. I just changed the SSD again yesterday, hoping that would resolve the issue.

Honestly, I think there's a chance you might want to just exchange the laptop altogether. I would have opted for that instead of swapping the SSD so many times. Just double-check that you haven’t filled the drive to capacity, but it sounds more like a problem with the laptop itself rather than the SSDs.

Thanks for the suggestion! I actually reached out to Lenovo's premium support, and they came to visit my place twice to fix the unit. They repaired it and everything was working fine. Oh, and just to clarify, I hadn’t completely filled the drive when the issue started.
