My Monitor Flickered and Beeped—Should I Be Worried?

Hey everyone! I recently had a weird issue where my monitor went blank for about three seconds, and I heard a single short beep during that time. I'm concerned about what this could mean for my setup. Here are my specs for reference: MSI B650M Gaming Plus Wifi, Ryzen 5 9600x, 2x Kingston KF560C30-16 RAM, Gigabyte 5070 Ti graphics card, and a Kingston SFYRD200G [2TB]. I'm running Windows 11 Home.

The monitor is connected to the PSU via a power adapter, and I double-checked all connections to ensure they were secure and that the cables were not bent too much. I've had issues with BSODs before, but they were related to Bluetooth and NVIDIA Broadcast, which have been pretty rare. I have a picture of the setup if that helps!

Any advice on whether this is serious and how I can ensure my rig stays safe would be greatly appreciated!

If you're curious about those BSODs you've had, gathering dump files can really help with diagnosis. Check for them in C:WindowsMinidump if you can boot normally or via Safe Mode. Having multiple dump files allows for a better analysis, so try to set your system to save Small Memory Dumps if you can.

Make sure to check your system temperatures and all the plugs to ensure everything is secure. It might also be worth looking at your monitor's behavior and checking for driver updates. Keeping your drivers up to date can prevent issues like these.

I've checked the temps and they're normal. I plan on unplugging everything soon for a thorough check, but thanks for the reminder about the drivers!

It sounds like you might have accidentally pressed the GPU driver refresh keys, which is Win + Ctrl + Shift + B. That can cause a quick flicker on the screen and a beep, but it's usually not a big deal! Just check if it happens again. If it keeps happening, then we should investigate further.

That's good to know! I can confirm I did hit those keys by mistake. The beep I heard seemed different though, coming from the motherboard. But I'll keep an eye on it! Thanks!
