I received an Acer Predator laptop for Christmas, and I'm really confused because it struggles to run games smoothly. On Christmas Day, while I was downloading Wuthering Waves, I noticed the laptop got really hot, so I moved it off the carrier I had it on. Could that have caused any damage? Interestingly, it seemed to run fine at my Dad's place but now at my mom's, it's lagging during games like Wuthering Waves and Fortnite. There are also occasional small glitches. I'm worried I might have messed it up or if it could be a network issue instead. Could someone help me figure this out?

It’s important to keep your laptop plugged in when gaming. Many laptops don’t run as well on battery power because they throttle performance to save energy. That may be why it’s lagging.
If you're having performance issues, make sure it’s plugged in. Many laptops slow down on battery power. Also, consider keeping it on an elevated surface to help with cooling; even a slight gap can help.
I’ve propped mine up, but I still feel like it’s not enough...
Acer Predator laptops come in various specs, so it might help to check which model you have. Some can overheat due to dust buildup or inefficient cooling, which could lead to performance issues. Make sure your model meets the requirements for the games you're trying to play.
You can usually find the model number by looking at the back of the laptop or checking the system info in Windows. Just search 'how to check laptop model' online!
Don’t panic! Start with offline games that aren't dependent on the internet. Also, check for any Windows updates in the background—sometimes that can slow things down while it's updating. And make sure all your drivers, especially the graphics ones, are up to date!
How do I check for updates? I’m not very tech-savvy either!

Totally! I noticed that my games run way smoother when my laptop is plugged in.
