My New Gaming PC is Having Random Slowdowns – Any Ideas?

Hey everyone, I've just finished building my first gaming PC with some solid specs, and I'm experiencing these random slowdowns where the system's performance dips, even while doing basic tasks. The setup includes a GIGABYTE B850 EAGLE WIFI6E motherboard, an AMD Radeon 9070XT graphics card, an AMD Ryzen 7 9700X processor, and 32GB of DDR5 RAM. It runs games beautifully, but sometimes the framerate drops to around 20fps for no apparent reason. I noticed that just right-clicking the taskbar seems to jolt it back to normal, but that's not always feasible when I'm gaming. I've checked task manager during these slowdowns, and everything looks normal. Has anyone else faced this issue or has any advice?

It sounds like it might be related to your drivers or Windows updates. Have you made sure all your graphics and system drivers are up to date? Also, check if there are any pending updates for Windows or necessary frameworks like .NET and Java. Keeping everything updated might solve the issue!

Just a heads up, even if you've updated stuff recently, sometimes a new update breaks things, so I’d keep an eye out for any known issues after updates.

I’m curious about how you notice the framerate drops when there are no applications running. Can you clarify that? Are the animations and cursor movement lagging too? That might give us more clues on what's happening.

Yeah, it’s more the general responsiveness of the OS that feels choppy. Even opening the start menu can be sluggish.
