My new keyboard keeps failing, any ideas why?

Hey everyone, I'm having a frustrating issue with my new keyboard, which I had to replace a couple of months ago because my old one was acting up. Initially, everything was great, but now my new keyboard is starting to fail as well. It works for a short while before it stops registering key presses, yet it stays powered on and lights up. This isn't like my old keyboard that would completely lose power.

Lately, it fails even before I can log in, and sometimes it just turns off completely. I've tried several things to fix it:
- Running 'sfc /scannow' in command prompt, which found and repaired some issues, but didn't resolve the keyboard problem.
- Updating and reinstalling the keyboard drivers, neither seemed to help.

I've even thought about uninstalling the drivers every time I log on, but I want to find the root cause before doing that. My previous Logitech keyboard had no issues, so I'm really hoping I can get to the bottom of this without wiping my computer. Any suggestions? I just want to play Roblox!

It sounds like there might be a hardware issue going on here. If this is a wired keyboard, check if the USB port might be the problem. Sometimes, the USB connection can get faulty, especially if it’s been plugged and unplugged a lot. Also, double-check if there's any damage to the cable itself.

And if it’s battery-powered or wireless, maybe the batteries are dying, or there's some interference happening. Just some food for thought!
Good luck!

Yeah, I'd try testing it on another USB port or even another computer if you can. It might help narrow down if it's the keyboard or the computer's USB ports.

For sure! Also, don’t forget to check the keyboard’s physical condition. Sometimes, dirt can accumulate under the keys and hinder functionality.

You mentioned moving the keyboard around; that's a great troubleshooting step. If it's working on the front USB ports, but not on the back ones, then your back ports might have an issue. Try to stick with the front ports for now as a temporary fix!

Plus, ensure that the cable connectors are clean and free of debris. It might just be a simple fix!

Funny enough, I did clean both ends of the cable, but I’ll keep an eye on the ports. Thanks for the tip!

Good call! Also, if it’s still acting up, maybe borrow a keyboard from someone or try a different one just to see what happens. Could be a dud keyboard!
