Hey everyone! I'm 15 and recently bought a Windows 11 laptop from Costco because I wanted something affordable. However, I'm facing a major issue: it takes around 5 minutes just to load and let me input my password. The performance is really sluggish, and I'm not sure what to do about it. If anyone has ideas or suggestions for fixing this, I would truly appreciate it!

A new laptop should start up in under 20 seconds. Try typing 'Startup Apps' in the search bar and disable everything except your security software. That could speed up the boot time!
Honestly, if it's just a new laptop and it's already so sluggish, consider returning it. There might be a defect, possibly connected to heating issues. No laptop should take over 30 seconds to boot up, so something isn't right here!
Do you know the computer specs? If it has a hard drive instead of an SSD, that’s likely the issue, especially in 2025! I’d recommend having at least 16 GB of RAM for smooth performance. If it only has 12 GB, it should be decent, but you'd want to verify the drive type.
Try checking the Task Manager to see which apps are using the most CPU. You can open it by typing 'Task Manager' in the search bar. This might give you an idea of what's slowing things down.
Make sure all your drivers are installed. Run Windows Update, then go to the Advanced options and check for any driver updates. That could help with performance.

I believe it only has 12 GB of RAM.
