Hey everyone! I'm 15 and just bought a Windows 11 laptop from Costco, but it's taking like 5 minutes to boot up just to enter my password, which is frustrating. I'm not sure what the problem is, and I'm hoping you can help me troubleshoot. If you have any suggestions on how to speed things up or fix it, I'd greatly appreciate it!

Make sure all your drivers are updated. Go to Windows Update and check if there are any updates available. After updating, head to the Advanced options and install all the drivers. Sometimes incomplete driver installation can cause slow performance.

A new laptop should power up in under 20 seconds. You can also type 'Startup Apps' in the search bar and disable all unnecessary apps except for your security software. This could help speed up the boot-up time a bit.

If it's brand new and still this slow, consider returning it. No new laptop should take longer than 30 seconds to boot. There might be a defect, possibly with the cooling system that's making it throttle. You deserve better for a new device!

What are the specs of your laptop? My guess is that it might have a traditional hard drive instead of a faster solid-state drive (SSD), which would explain the slow startup times. Ideally, you should have at least 16 GB of RAM for smooth performance.

I think it only has 12 GB of RAM, so maybe that’s part of the issue?

First off, try opening the Task Manager by typing it in the search bar. Once it's open, check which apps are using the most CPU by clicking on the CPU column header. That should help you figure out what's slowing things down.
