My New PSU Burnt My SATA Cable—Do I Need to Replace All the Cables?

Hey everyone! I recently upgraded my power supply to a 1000W Rog Strix Platinum for my new graphics card, as the previous PSU couldn't handle the power demands, leading to instability. Everything was fine for about 12 hours until I smelled something burning—turns out, it was my SATA cable! I realize now that I reused the SATA cable from my old Corsair 650W Gold PSU, mainly because I figured it would be a hassle to rewire it. It seems like that might have been a bad move. My question is, how much do I need to rewire? Do I need to replace the entire SATA setup, or is it just the short cable connecting the back fan to the rest? Thanks for any advice!

You really shouldn't be using any cables from your old PSU. Mixing and matching can lead to some serious problems since they're not standardized. It's best to rewire everything with the cables that came with your new PSU. Just to be safe!

But what if it's just my fans connected to that SATA? Could that damage them too?
