My new RTX 5070 isn’t working, could my Ryzen 7 2700x be causing the issues?

Hey everyone, I just got my hands on an RTX 5070, but it's not working as expected. I've been running into freezing issues whenever I try to install the drivers. I've already wiped everything clean using DDU and reinstalled multiple times without any success. My setup includes a Ryzen 7 2700x CPU and a Thermaltake 650W 80+ bronze PSU. Given that the GPU has had its share of issues but there are also reports about compatibility with Ryzen 2000 series CPUs, I'm wondering if it's my old components causing the trouble. If so, what would be good replacements to get my 1440p gaming rig up and running? I'm open to suggestions!

I wouldn’t jump straight to thinking the GPU is faulty. There are quite a few reports about compatibility issues between Zen+ CPUs and the RTX 5000 series. My suggestion would be to pick up an R7 5700X—it's priced around $140-150. Just make sure to update your motherboard BIOS before installing it. This might just fix your issue!

Thanks for the tip! If it’s a compatibility issue, that’s definitely a relief. I was leaning towards the 5700X as well!
