My NVMe SSD Isn’t Detected by My PC – Help!

I'm having trouble with my NVMe M.2 SSD. It works perfectly on my PS5, but when I install it in my PC, nothing appears anywhere. I can't see it in disk management, and the BIOS only recognizes my main SSD labeled M.2_1. My motherboard is an ASUS TUF Z370-Plus Gaming II with BIOS Version: 0409 (from 2018). Can anyone offer some assistance? I heard something about updating the BIOS and potentially getting an adapter, but I'm not sure what to do!

It sounds like you might need to reformat the SSD. Usually, it won't be recognized until it's correctly set up. Check if you can see it in disk management and format it there if possible.

That's the issue! It's not appearing in disk management at all, and the BIOS isn't detecting it either.

Both M.2 slots on your motherboard should support NVMe drives. Have you tried swapping the drives? It might help isolate the issue if you switch their positions.

I haven't done that yet! The old main SSD is under the GPU and this new one is positioned near the CPU. Do I need to change any settings before booting up?

Oh wow, I just realized the issue might have been that the SSD wasn't seated properly in the slot. I spent hours trying to troubleshoot and it was a simple fix!
