My PC froze and now shows an amber DRAM light—what should I do?

Hey everyone, I was using my PC when both screens suddenly froze, not even a blue screen or black screen, just whatever was on display. I waited a bit and tried pressing some buttons, but nothing worked. Eventually, I switched off the power at the plug. After a moment, I turned it back on, and now the motherboard has a solid amber DRAM light, and nothing shows up on the monitors—just darkness. I've also tried a bunch of troubleshooting steps: removing the CMOS battery, holding down the power button, reseating the RAM (even testing each stick in all four slots), and checking all the cables. I even called Asus support for help but had a terrible experience. Any ideas on what might be wrong? I'm thinking about buying a new motherboard from a local store to test it out.

Edit: I installed an MSI MAG B850 Tomahawk motherboard with Wi-Fi, but I'm still seeing an amber DRAM light and a red CPU light, with no POST. I've tried various configurations with my GPUs and RAM sticks. What else could it be? Maybe a fried CPU? I plan to try new RAM tonight and possibly swap out the CPU or PSU—so frustrating!

When your PC won’t turn off, it might help to hold the power button for a longer duration, around 4-5 seconds or more. Sometimes it requires a firm press. Also, retrace your steps when reseating everything; each connection has to be tight to avoid issues. Fingers crossed for you!

I actually pressed it for about 26 seconds at one point, so I don't think it's just that. I also reseated everything multiple times—CPU included. Thanks for the support!

To troubleshoot effectively, make sure to get the dump files if you can boot into Windows or Safe Mode. Those files are essential for diagnosing crash issues. Check the C:WindowsMinidump directory for any logs, zip them, and upload them to a file-sharing site. This way, we can help pinpoint the problem. Also, ensure your dump settings are configured correctly to collect the relevant data. Good luck!
