My PC has been slow and stuttering since the Windows 11 update—any fixes?

Ever since I upgraded to Windows 11, my PC has been noticeably slower. When I hit the Windows button to search for a program, it freezes for about 5 seconds and doesn't show any results immediately. Additionally, while gaming, the screen sometimes freezes for 5-10 seconds and I experience smaller stutters throughout. I've checked memory usage and it's not particularly high. I did manage to improve the startup menu slowness by running 'sfc /SCANNOW' in the command prompt, but the stuttering during games remains. Is there anything I can do to fix this?

If you're really stuck, doing a clean installation of Windows might be the quickest fix. It can be a hassle to troubleshoot random stutters and slowdowns caused by software, so creating a bootable USB using the Windows Media Creation Tool can save you a lot of time. Just remember to back up all your important data before starting fresh.

Make sure to back up first! A clean install is basically setting up Windows from scratch. You can download the necessary files from the Microsoft website. Just be aware—it usually means you’ll lose your files unless you back them up first, so ensure everything important is saved externally.

The slowness and stuttering you’re experiencing could be due to background processes like indexing, driver conflicts, or even changes in GPU scheduling. It's great that running 'sfc /scannow' helped with the menu. For the in-game freezes, I suggest checking if your graphics drivers are up to date, closing any unnecessary background tasks, and toggling the 'Hardware-accelerated GPU scheduling' option in Windows settings. In some cases, a clean install or updating firmware can address these post-upgrade issues.
