Hey, I've been having a frustrating issue with my PC dropping its ethernet connection frequently over the past few days. The PC itself is running smoothly overall, but the internet connection keeps cutting in and out. It usually works fine for about an hour after booting up, then it starts dropping randomly for varying lengths of time—from just a minute to a whole day. I'm suspecting it might be a problem with the OS, the drivers, or possibly a faulty motherboard, even though it's relatively new (Gigabyte B650E Aorus Master).
I've already tried restarting my PC, reinstalling drivers, using a different CAT6 cable, restarting my modem, disabling and enabling the internet device, flushing the DNS, disconnecting the PSU for a bit, resetting the CMOS, and a couple of other minor troubleshooting steps I can't recall. I'm open to any ideas you might have before I consider reinstalling the OS or even returning the motherboard since it's still under warranty. But honestly, I'd prefer to avoid the hassle of an RMA with Gigabyte if possible.

Check your network interface settings. Sometimes, manually setting it to 1Gb Full Duplex instead of letting it auto-negotiate can resolve these types of issues. Your motherboard has a 2.5Gb NIC, and if you’re on an older router, negotiation problems could cause the drops. Give that a try!
Your board has an Intel i225 LAN adapter, which has had its share of issues. If you’re still having trouble, you might want to check the Intel driver site for any updates that could solve your problem. These adapters can be pretty problematic, and many users have found that getting the correct driver can make a big difference.
Have you tried using a different ethernet adapter? If it works fine with another device on the same cable, then the problem's likely with your PC. In that case, you might have a faulty network interface card (NIC). If you're not keen on going through the hassle of an RMA, you could get a cheap PCIe ethernet card instead; they’re usually pretty affordable for basic gigabit connections.
