My PC randomly stops letting me click on anything—help!

Hey folks, I've been dealing with a strange problem on my PC and I'm at my wit's end! It started just a few hours ago. No matter how many times I restart my PC or try refreshing Windows Explorer, the issue persists. Randomly, my PC won't let me click on anything. I can hover over taskbar icons, but clicking does nothing. This also happens in Firefox; sometimes it opens old tabs or just freezes the click function altogether. The only temporary fix I find is using Ctrl+Alt+Delete to open Task Manager, but it only works for a few minutes before it breaks again. Oddly enough, this problem can occur when I'm not even using the computer! Alt+Tab still lets me switch tabs, but once again, I can't click on anything. I've tested different mice and keyboards, so that's not the issue. I'm on Windows 11 with the latest update. Any advice would be super appreciated before I lose my mind!

Honestly, Windows can drive you nuts sometimes! But let's not fully blame it until we can explore other options. What if it's not actually the operating system causing this? Let's troubleshoot before we jump to drastic measures!

Have you tried pressing Ctrl+Alt+Del and then hitting Esc? It sounds like a similar issue I've had where the keyboard acts like a key is stuck. That usually fixes it for me! Alternatively, maybe check if there’s a key actually stuck on your keyboard. Giving it a good clean or swapping it out might help too.

Could you share your system specs? If your hardware isn't up to spec, it might be causing issues. But if your hardware is decent, it could be a software issue with Windows. In that case, you might consider doing a full reinstall of Windows if all else fails.
