I was in the middle of gaming when my PC suddenly turned off. I immediately suspected it was the power supply unit (PSU). After trying to power it back on without success, I flipped the PSU switch and held down the power button. When I turned the PSU back on, there were popping sounds from the cables, and at one point, a small fire broke out! Now I'm really worried—are my components ruined?

It's tough to say without more info, but higher quality PSUs tend to protect components better. If yours was old, that could be a concern. Just fingers crossed that everything is alright!
You're definitely going to need a new PSU to see if everything still works. The damage really depends on how severe the issues were, but you won't know for sure until you replace it and test the system.
Chances are your components are okay, but you'll need to find out with a replacement PSU. Also, what made you so sure it was the PSU? Did you smell something burnt?
Smoke and popping from the cables, that's for sure!
