My PC Won’t Boot: CPU and VRAM Debug Lights Keep Flashing – Help!

I've been using my setup, which includes an R5-9600X CPU and a 5070 GPU on a TX GAMING B650EM WIFI W motherboard, for about seven months with PBO enabled. Recently, I started experiencing issues while rendering in Unreal Engine 5, where the screen would go black unexpectedly, but I could restart and continue working. However, yesterday, while gaming, my screen froze completely and became unresponsive to any inputs, including the power button. I unplugged and replugged the power cable, but the system wouldn't start. It initially stuck at the VRAM debug light for over 30 minutes.

I've done everything I could think of—reseating the CPU, cleaning the RAM sticks, trying each RAM module individually, and even booting with minimal components. Unfortunately, I accidentally damaged the motherboard socket during my troubleshooting. In a rush, I ordered a new Gigabyte B850M Eagle Gaming ICE motherboard and set it up, placing the RAM in slots A2 and B2, but the problem persists with the CPU and VRAM debug lights flashing alternately, and the system still won't boot.

Sounds frustrating! When dealing with these debug lights, sometimes it's really about trial and error. It could be a RAM issue, so if you haven’t already, try booting with just one stick in different slots. Good luck!

I had a similar issue once, and resetting the BIOS worked for me. Just ensure you’ve wiped the CMOS properly. I also suggest pulling out the dGPU first as a troubleshooting step.

Have you tried checking if the XMP/EXPO settings are on or off? It’s worth resetting your BIOS to default settings. If your CPU has an integrated GPU, take out the dedicated GPU and see if it’ll boot using that instead.
