My Ryzen CPU is overheating—what can I do?

I've been using my AMD Ryzen 5 5600x for over two years without issues, but lately, I've noticed it hitting temperatures of 90-100°C during gaming sessions that used to be fine. When idle, it fluctuates between 55-70°C, leading to regular shutdowns. I've already cleaned out dust, added extra fans, and tweaked fan settings, but nothing seems to help. Is there a chance my CPU is damaged? Should I consider replacing it or is there a fix?

Don’t forget to check the cooler mounting pressure too. If it's not evenly mounted, that could also lead to overheating. Just make sure everything is fitted properly!

It sounds like a classic case of needing new thermal paste. It's easier than it seems—make sure to clean off the old paste completely first!

Good to know! I'll definitely try that!

Have you thought about reapplying thermal paste? That can often help with overheating issues. Just clean off the old paste with some alcohol wipes or a paper towel, and maybe check out a YouTube tutorial for guidance. It's usually a simple process once you get the hang of it!

I haven't done that yet, but I might give it a shot!

Repasting your CPU is usually a solid fix for high temperatures, so I’d recommend trying that.
