My Surface Go Crashes at Login After Installing Win8DE

I'm a bit of a Linux newbie and recently switched my Microsoft Surface Go (1st generation) over to Manjaro to escape Windows. It's been pretty smooth so far, and I'd like to keep it that way. I decided to install Win8DE because I really enjoyed the Windows 8 tablet experience. The installation went without a hitch, but now I'm facing a big issue: my Surface Go crashes every time I try to log in to Win8DE. Thankfully, Gnome is still working perfectly, so I'm not thinking about reinstalling Manjaro. I would love some help troubleshooting this problem, as there seems to be little information about Win8DE online. Thanks!

UI tweaks can often create issues on certain devices. If you're aiming for a Windows-like experience, you might consider just installing Windows instead. It could save you a lot of hassle with stability and performance.

Have you checked the logs for any hints about why it crashes? Look into the system logs after trying to log in to Win8DE, as it might provide some clues. Sometimes, specific packages need to be adjusted.

It might be worth checking to see if there are any compatibility issues with Win8DE and your hardware. You could also try different display managers to see if that resolves the login crash.
