My VivoBook Laptop Isn’t Recognizing the Touchpad or Wireless Connection

I'm having trouble with my new VivoBook laptop. My brother bought it without Windows, and I installed the latest version without any issues. The touchpad and wireless connection work perfectly fine in the BIOS, but for some reason, they don't show up in Windows. I've tried pressing FN+F6, but it doesn't do anything, although the FN key works for other functions like volume. I've also downloaded drivers from the ASUS website, but no luck so far. I'm used to working with desktops rather than laptops, so I'm not sure what else to do. Has anyone experienced this issue? Any tips to help would be greatly appreciated!

It sounds like both your touchpad and wireless card are recognized in BIOS, which is a good sign! However, since they're not appearing in Windows, there might be an issue with the drivers. I suggest checking Device Manager to see if there's an entry for the 'Network controller' with missing drivers. ASUS has a list of three different cards (Intel, Mediatek, Realtek). Knowing which card you have can help you download the right driver. Right-click on the unknown device, go to properties, then details, and check the Hardware IDs to find out the manufacturer. That might solve the driver issue!

That’s solid advice! It could definitely be a driver mismatch. Check that first before trying anything more complicated.

Sometimes, the touchpad might have a hidden enable/disable feature. You could try tapping the corners of the touchpad a few times—I've heard this works for some setups. A lot of laptops have these quirky features, but I get it's frustrating. I know you mentioned it’s not working, but it’s worth giving it another shot. It should work if the BIOS recognizes it!

I tried that, but it didn’t help. It’s strange because everything functions fine in the BIOS!
