My wife's computer was working just fine, but then it suddenly stopped responding to clicks. Task Manager still opens, but nothing else works. I've tried startup repair and other basic troubleshooting, but I'm feeling pretty stressed. How can I get it back up and running? I've encountered errors while trying to reset it, and I just can't seem to get it to do anything!

It sounds like your wife's PC might be having some serious issues. A good first step is to run Command Prompt and execute the SFC /ScanNow command to check for system file corruption. Just make sure you're running it as an administrator. Good luck!

Have you checked if it’s related to hardware? Sometimes a failing GPU or even RAM issues can cause these symptoms. If you can, open the case and reseat the components or run some diagnostics from the BIOS. Just a thought!

If you're getting errors when running SFC, like "Windows Resource Protection could not perform the requested operation," it could signify deeper issues with the OS or the hard drive. You could try booting into safe mode and see if that allows you to access more options or even run the repair tools without interruptions.
