I'm planning to buy a new PC, and my brother is looking to upgrade his CPU from an i7 14700KF to an i9 14900K. He'll give me his current CPU and $230 if I purchase the i9 and hand it over to him. I've put together a build that includes an MSI B760M Gaming Wifi motherboard, Intel Core i9 14900K CPU, 32GB of Kingston Fury Beast DDR5 RAM, a 1TB Corsair MP600 SSD, an MSI MAG 750W PSU, a Sapphire RX 9060 XT graphics card, an Xigmatek DUO X case, a 180Hz LG gaming monitor, and a Cooler Master 360mm liquid cooler. Here are my questions: (1) Is the MSI B760M motherboard good enough for the i7 14700KF (I don't plan to overclock)? (2) If it's not sufficient, should I go for the RTX 5060 instead of the 9060 XT and save up for the MSI PRO Z790-S WIFI instead? (3) Will my brother's MSI PRO Z790-P DDR4 motherboard support the i9 14900K?

Before making any final decisions, it would help to know what you're actually using the PC for. Are you mostly coding, running virtual machines, or gaming? That could affect your choices moving forward!

For coding and VMs, the current CPU should be fine, but if your brother needs more power for work, the i9 is a solid pick. Just make sure the motherboard can support whatever CPU you end up going with.
