Hey everyone! I'm trying to put together my very first gaming PC, but there's so much information out there that my brain is just kind of melting. I've put together a list of parts that I think could make a decent mid-range build for gaming, specifically something that could run Baldur's Gate 3 with mods. I really want to stick to my budget of £1500. Could anyone take a look at my list and let me know if I'm on the right track or if there are any changes you'd recommend? I'm not sure how to share the link since this is my first post, but I've included my parts below:
- **CPU**: AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D 4.2 GHz 8-core Processor
- **Cooler**: Thermaltake TH240 V2 Ultra ARGB Sync 57.05 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler
- **Motherboard**: ASRock B650M-HDV/M.2 Micro ATX AM5
- **Memory**: PNY XLR8 Gaming RGB 32GB (2 x 16 GB) DDR5-6000 CL36
- **Storage**: MSI SPARTIUM M460 1TB M.2-2280 PCIe 4.0 X4 NVME SSD
- **GPU**: XFX Quicksilver OC Radeon RX 9070 16GB
- **Case**: Antec CX500M RGB Micro ATX Mini tower
- **Power Supply**: Antec NeoECO Gold 850 W 80+ Gold Certified Fully Modular ATX
- **Case Fans**: Thermalright TL-M12-S 47.6 CFM 120mm fan
Any tips or feedback would be super appreciated!

If you can stretch your budget a bit more to around £1700 and have a specific color theme in mind (like yellow!), I actually built a rig that came to about 1600 euros. I could share that build with you if you want!
If you're open to tweaking your build a bit, you could downgrade the CPU to a 9600x and upgrade the GPU to a 9070xt. That should still give you great performance unless you're gaming in 720p, which is pretty low resolution.
This is a whole other language to me, what’s bottleneck? And is 720p high? Sorry, I’m trying to learn ahahaha!
You're aiming for more of a high-end setup compared to mid-range, which is awesome for a first build! I recommend a couple of changes: for the CPU cooler, swap it for an Arctic Freezer III – it’s usually around £85 and cools better. Also, consider getting RAM with a 6000c30 rating; there are plenty of options available at similar prices. Just make sure your PSU is well-rated; you can check a tier list online to be sure!
Thank you sm for the advice!
Could you possibly share the build? I’m not 100% strict with budget since I’ll be saving for a few months; I just don't want to go overboard, ahahaha! If there are better parts that cost more, I'm okay with that!
