I recently purchased a 5080 Suprim liquid and I'm stuck trying to pick a motherboard for my Ryzen 9950X3D. My knowledge about motherboards is pretty limited, so I'm looking for some guidance. Should I just go all out and buy an X870 motherboard, or is there something else I should consider?

If money isn’t an issue, then go for the high-end motherboards! But if you want to save some cash, B series boards work just fine too. For example, the Gigabyte B850 Eagle WiFi6E and X870 Gaming WiFi6E are some of the cheaper ATX options. If you lean towards premium offerings, check out MSI's Pro X870-P WiFi and Asus TUF Gaming X870 Plus WiFi. The absolute best options are the MSI Godlike and Asus ROG Strix, but they are on the pricier side.
For the 9950X3D, I'd recommend getting at least a mid-range X870, ideally an X870E for the better VRM performance. You might want to avoid ASRock right now since they’ve had some significant issues with X3D CPUs. Personally, I’m not a fan of Asus either. That leaves you with Gigabyte and MSI. The MSI Tomahawk is a solid choice and my top pick. If you can’t find that one, check out Gigabyte's Aorus Elite or Aorus Pro; both are great alternatives. Just remember, with a pricey CPU and GPU, don’t skimp too much on the motherboard to save $50-$100; it’s not worth it.
Going with an ASRock motherboard for an X3D CPU would be a risky move right now, considering their issues. Better to play it safe!
