Hey everyone! I recently upgraded my PC with an RTX 5070, but my old i7-7700K CPU is really holding me back. I'm considering the Ryzen 7 9800X3D or the Intel i7 14700K for a new CPU, but I'm unsure what would be best for competitive gaming. My budget is capped at $800. Any recommendations or suggestions? The Ryzen 7 9800X3D is definitely the way to go. It outperforms in gaming and is really suited for your setup!
I would recommend skipping the i7 14700K; anything from the AM5 lineup will likely serve you better. The 9800X3D is excellent for gaming, but it might be overkill for your GPU.

Without a doubt, go for the 9800X3D! It's fantastic for gaming. Just keep in mind that i7s are more geared towards multitasking rather than just gaming alone.
