Need Help Diagnosing CPU Overheating Issues

Hey everyone, I've been having some issues with my CPU overheating lately. The CPU light on my motherboard has been red while gaming for a few months, and more recently, when I power on my PC, I get a warning about the CPU being too hot, and it boots straight to BIOS. The temperatures I see there seem normal—around 40-45 degrees—so I'm a bit confused. However, while gaming, the temperatures spike up to 90-100 degrees! I've tried reapplying thermal paste, but the problem persists. I'm beginning to wonder if my AIO cooler might be the issue. I checked the RPMs in the UEFI, and it's reading around 1600, so maybe the cooler is fine? I've done some Googling and found that it could be related to the processor, motherboard, AIO cooler, or even the PSU. So, I'm turning to you guys for advice. Is overheating a sign that the CPU is failing? And does the RPM reading necessarily mean the AIO cooler is working properly? Any insights would be greatly appreciated!

If your CPU temp hits 100 degrees, that's a serious issue with your cooling setup. It could be anything from poorly applied thermal paste, leaving the sticker on the pump, or a pump failure altogether. Since you've reapplied the thermal paste and it was working fine before, I'd lean towards the pump being the culprit. It might be showing RPMs in the UEFI, but that doesn't always guarantee it's functioning properly.

So you're saying it could still be failing even if it shows RPMs? That’s good to know, I appreciate the clarification!

When you're gaming and your CPU is showing high temps, a quick troubleshooting step is to touch the radiator of the cooler. If it feels cold, there's a good chance that the pump has failed. Definitely worth checking that out!

Thanks for the tip! I'll test the radiator and see what I find.
