Need Help Installing Windows 11 24H2 on Gnome Boxes

Hey everyone! I'm currently struggling to install Windows 11 (24H2) on my virtual machine using Gnome Boxes on Fedora Workstation Version 42. I suspect the issue might be that Gnome Boxes operates as a type 1 hypervisor, and I'm wondering if there are any alternatives or solutions to get Windows 11 up and running as a VM. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Make sure that you have TPM (Trusted Platform Module) emulated. I've installed Windows using QEMU-KVM with Virt Manager without any issues. Most hypervisors don’t enable TPM by default, which is a common stumbling block.

Absolutely! I found that with several hypervisors, including Hyper-V, TPM wasn't enabled by default when I last checked. It's definitely something to keep in mind.

You might want to consider using qemu-kvm with virt-manager instead. It gives you more control over the virtual machine setup, but I haven't specifically tried installing Windows 11 24H2 myself. Just something to think about!

I actually just installed it using kvm/qemu at work, and it worked without any issues.

Yeah, Gnome Boxes uses QEMU, KVM, and libvirt, but it really seems to be more about that type 1 vs. type 2 hypervisor issue.
