I've been in the IT field for 13 years and have experience with WDS and MDT, having set those up for my previous job. Currently, I'm in a tight spot because our SCCM Admin is leaving next Friday, and I've just been informed that I'll be taking over many of their responsibilities. I have little knowledge about SCCM and the existing MDT/WDS task sequences we have in place. The old Admin mentioned they haven't worked on the MDT project yet, so I have to start from scratch. I've got a deadline in October to image around 1,000 new devices with Windows 11 to avoid support fees for Windows 10. Can anyone advise me on the best way to make this transition? Any guidance on where to start would be greatly appreciated—I know I can handle this, but I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed.

Just remember, picking up SCCM in one week is a massive challenge! But don’t stress too much—documenting and asking for help can go a long way! You're going to do just fine!
Just a heads up, Microsoft is really pushing over to Intune. If it's an option down the line, check if your company can transition. I get that it’s tricky right now with your existing setup, but that might save you some headaches in the future!
Honestly, it might be worth considering contracting someone to help you out. You can buy block hours and have an expert set up the whole process and even walk you through it. Make sure to negotiate some time for them to teach you; that could save you a lot of headaches down the road!
MDT is a big part of what SCCM uses for Task Sequences, so you're not entirely starting from scratch. SCCM has various ways to update devices without needing to reimage them. Just take your time to learn and test in phases. And for some resources, I found this site really helpful: [prajwaldesai.com](https://www.prajwaldesai.com/sccm/)
I completely understand the appeal of Intune, but unfortunately, due to our in-house built platform and the current constraints, we can't move to it just yet.
