Need Help Upgrading My PC for Better FPS in CS2

Hey everyone! I've had my PC for about 10 years now, and I'm playing CS2 but struggling to reach a steady 144 FPS—usually sitting around 120, occasionally spiking to 140. I'd love to know what upgrades I need to hit at least 280 FPS, or even 360 FPS if that's possible. Here are my specs:

- Processor: Intel i9-7900X CPU @ 3.30GHz (10 cores)
- RAM: 32GB (though it shows 18.6GB available)
- GPU: GTX 1080 (8GB)
- Storage: 500GB SSD (pretty full) and a 2TB hard drive

Should I invest in upgrades or is it time for a new PC?

I'm in Australia and willing to spend up to $1,000 on upgrades. I’m not too familiar with PC parts and their prices, so let me know if that needs to change!

Great to know! With that budget, focusing on your CPU, motherboard, and RAM would be a solid start. Additionally, considering current prices, you might want to look at an i5-14600K or i7-14700K as a good fit.

I recommend upgrading your CPU, motherboard, and RAM first since CS2 really benefits from modern hardware. After that, consider if your GPU needs an upgrade depending on your performance needs.

Before diving into upgrades, what's your budget and location? This info will help narrow down options.

Given your current setup, I'd stick to a DDR4 platform to make the most of your existing parts. The i7-14700K along with a good cooler and a Z790 DDR4 motherboard could be a solid route. Don’t forget a 1TB or larger NVMe SSD for faster load times!
