Hey everyone, I'm a total newbie to PC building and I need some guidance. About six months ago, I bought a PC for artwork and some gaming, which has an AMD Ryzen 1700 and an RX550 GPU. Recently, I've been experiencing lag with Solidworks, so my uncle generously gave me two GPUs: an RTX 2070 and a Radeon RX6600. I watched a few videos on how to swap out graphics cards and downloaded the driver for the RX6600, but I haven't installed it yet. I just plugged in the new card without removing anything else, and now my monitors are showing 'no signal.' I'm really confused about where to start with troubleshooting since I have no experience. I plan to revert back to the RX550 to see if that works, but I'm worried that I've messed something up. Also, I found out that my power supply only has a 6-pin connector for power while both GPUs need an 8-pin connection. It seems like I might need to buy a new power supply—unless there's a workaround?

First off, make sure your new GPU is properly seated in the PCIe slot and that all necessary power cables are connected to the card. If your monitor is still connected to the motherboard, switch it to the GPU output instead. You should at least see something on the display if everything is working correctly, even before installing drivers.
That’s right! But if your PSU only has a 6-pin connector, it might not be sufficient. You could look into getting a new power supply that fits the GPU needs.
Double-check where your HDMI (or other video cables) are plugged in! Make sure it’s connected to the GPU itself, not the motherboard ports. Also, verify that you’ve connected power to all the necessary ports on your video card. The card should click into place once it’s properly seated.
I checked, and you're right! The power supply cable wasn't hooked up to the card, and I noticed it's only 6-pin while the GPU needs 8. Looks like I’m in for a PSU upgrade.
I just realized my power supply wasn't plugged into the GPU! There was a loose cable, and I guess those cards need direct power. Thanks for the tip!
