I recently swapped out my CPU from a Ryzen 3 3200G to a Ryzen 5 5600XT. The thermal paste that came with my new CPU was very minimal, so I used it sparingly. After I updated my motherboard's BIOS and ensured everything was up to date, I struggled for a while to get my PC to boot. Eventually, I tried putting my old CPU back in, and it booted up but then shut down after some time. When I checked the BIOS, I noticed the CPU temperature started at 47 degrees and quickly rose, hitting 61 degrees before I powered down. Now, my PC shuts off before I can even log into Windows. I'm leaning towards the thermal paste issue since mine is nearly empty. Before I head out to buy more, do you think that's the right move? I've heard that the heatsink might not be installed properly, but it looks secure to me.

The Hyper 212 isn't the best cooler out there, and without enough paste, it won't be able to effectively transfer heat. Since thermal paste is inexpensive and can be really helpful, it's definitely worth adding more. I suggest picking some up!
Thanks for the tip! I actually just remembered I have the stock cooler that came with my new CPU, so I’ll try that first to see if it works.
