Hey everyone, I'm in a bit of a jam here. My execs are constantly on my case, asking why we can't just open up access to ChatGPT for everyone in our company. They say things like, "We can't compete without it!" and "We're falling behind, we need it to do our jobs!"
Here's the context: We're in a regulated industry, so we have to comply with state laws and GLBA regulations. Our IT team is pretty small, and we've been beefing up security as the company has grown. We just upgraded everyone to Microsoft Business Premium and have been trying to make the shift to Intune, but right now, we're blocking ChatGPT through our security systems.
The issue is, I can't keep stalling the demand for GenAI much longer, especially with the growing shadow IT problem. I thought I could stall by saying we'd need an Enterprise license, but the execs green-lit it right away. Now, I'm tasked with finding a tool to manage OpenAI's Data Loss Prevention (DLP) and audit APIs. I initially looked into Microsoft solutions, but the licensing is super confusing. I think we might need to step up to Enterprise licenses and buy some additional compliance add-ons to fit it into Purview.
I'm hoping to get some advice from others who have gone through this. Is Purview the best option, especially since we're not fully utilizing Entra or Intune yet? Or are there better tools like Netskope or Forcepoint that I should consider? Any insights, articles, or experiences would be really appreciated!

Have you figured out what specific problems they think ChatGPT solves that Copilot can’t? That might be a good place to start. You could also dive into your Entra ID journey now and leverage Copilot instead. Honestly, with Business Premium, you might not even need to jump to an E license, but those security add-ons might be worth exploring. Definitely chat with a reseller to clarify your options!
I'm in the same boat, just reached out to our rep yesterday to dive into licensing specifics. You might be able to convince them about Copilot since it's less flashy but potentially more aligned with what you're already using!
