Need Help with My Desktop’s Internet Connection Issues

I've been experiencing a really frustrating issue with my desktop computer's internet connection. A few days ago, the internet suddenly stopped working while I was using it as usual. I double-checked the ethernet cable, unplugged it, and plugged it back in, but no luck. I then tried my laptop, which worked perfectly fine, so I ruled out issues with the wall socket and the cable.

Next, I suspected it might be my desktop, so I took several steps to fix it: I updated the BIOS, the LAN drivers for my motherboard, and even disabled and re-enabled the drivers in Device Manager. I uninstalled the ethernet driver and restarted Windows, but still, nothing worked. To top it off, I reinstalled Windows entirely.

Thinking maybe the ethernet port was damaged, I purchased an ethernet card and installed it in a PCIe slot. My computer recognized it, and I installed the drivers for it too, but plugging in the ethernet cable still didn't work. I'm really stumped and could use some help. My setup includes Windows 11, a Ryzen 5 5500, a GTX 1650, and 16GB of 3200MHz RAM. Any ideas on what might be going wrong?

Have you checked if the lights on your network port are blinking when you connect the cable? It’s a good indicator of connectivity. Also, do the lights on the router itself blink? What does the ethernet icon say when you hover over it? Sometimes, even a small detail can point towards the problem.

You might want to try running a couple of commands to troubleshoot. Open a terminal and type 'ping localhost' to see if your system can connect to itself. Also, type 'ipconfig' and check what your IP address is. If it starts with 169, that's a sign of a connectivity issue. Let me know what you find!
