Need Some Advice on My Silent PC Build

Hey there! I'm putting together my first PC and aiming for a versatile setup with a budget of around €1200 to €1500 for the tower only. My top priority is that it needs to be very silent since I absolutely loathe fan noise, and I don't wear headphones. I'll be using it mainly for office and development work—like web and mobile projects—and running some VMs for personal AI projects. There will also be some gaming on a 40" 1080p TV (I'm looking for the latest DLSS support) and maybe upgrading to 4K next year. Plus, I'll do a bit of light video editing and potentially game/podcast streaming in the future.

I'm only ordering from Amazon France for warranty reasons. Here's my current build:

* CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 9700X 3.8 GHz 8-Core Processor (€303.00)
* CPU Cooler: Thermalright Peerless Assassin 120 SE 66.17 CFM CPU Cooler (€45.90)
* Motherboard: Gigabyte B650 GAMING X AX V2 ATX AM5 Motherboard (€160.46)
* Memory: Corsair Vengeance 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) DDR5-6000 CL30 Memory (€124.00)
* Storage: Samsung 990 Pro 2 TB M.2-2280 PCIe 4.0 X4 NVME SSD (€153.76)
* Video Card: Palit Infinity 3 GeForce RTX 5070 12 GB (€616.07)
* Case: Fractal Design Define 7 Compact ATX Mid Tower Case (€129.88)
* Power Supply: be quiet! Pure Power 13 M 850 W 80+ Gold Certified Fully Modular ATX PSU (€120.49)
* Total: €1653.56

I have a few questions:
1. Is everything in this build compatible and easy to assemble?
2. Will this setup actually be silent in real-world use?
3. Is the Gigabyte GAMING OC GeForce RTX 5060 Ti a good choice, or should I spend a bit more on the 5070? Any advice on reliable models?
4. Are there any weak points or better swaps within my budget that you'd recommend?

Thanks a lot for your feedback!

Hey! Your build is looking solid, but remember that quiet vs silent is a big difference. The Define 7 case combined with the be quiet! PSU is a great start for noise reduction. Just be aware that the GPU under load will still produce some sound.

For your PSU, it should work well in terms of noise and reliability. No need to upgrade unless you're aiming for something specific.

As for the motherboard, I wouldn't rush to upgrade from the B650 to the B850 unless you need the extra features. Stick with what you have for now; it’ll serve you well!

Thanks for the info! I’ll keep my current PSU and motherboard for now and focus on the games I want to play. Appreciate the help!

1. Everything looks compatible and should be pretty straightforward to put together.

2. Just a heads up—achieving complete silence is challenging. Even if you set the fans to a low curve, you might still hear a hum, especially with the GPU working hard. Try to position your PC away from where you’ll be sitting, but expect some noise when you’re gaming.

3. If you're planning on moving to a 4K display later, I suggest investing a bit more in a stronger GPU; the 5060 Ti is fine for now, but the 5070 would be better for future-proofing.

4. For memory, I’d recommend sticking with the 6000MHz CL30 RAM as it should be available at a similar price point. That will help with performance without breaking your budget.

Thanks for the insights! Just to clarify, when you say to 'invest a bit more,' are you suggesting the RTX 5070? And are all models similar in terms of quality? I’m considering both the Palit Infinity 3 and the Gigabyte WINDFORCE OC.

Yeah, I think the 5070 would be worth it for better 4K performance. As for models, check reviews on cooling and reliability; those factors can vary between brands.
