No Display with RX 6900 XT – What Could be the Issue?

Hey everyone! I recently bought a used RX 6900 XT, but I'm running into a problem where I'm getting no display. I've tried connecting via DisplayPort and HDMI but nothing seems to work. Just for reference, my old GTX 1070 works perfectly fine. The fans on the GPU aren't spinning at all, although there is some backlight visible.

Here are my specs:
- Display: Samsung 32D850T
- Power Supply: Chieftec 850W
- Motherboard: ASUS Z170A
- CPU: i7-6700K
- RAM: 32GB

I'm thinking that maybe the card needs PCIe 4.0 and my motherboard only supports up to 3.0? Or could it be something else?

PCIe version isn’t the problem here. If your power supply is older, it might not be able to deliver enough power even though it’s rated at 850W. You might want to check if the GPU has a dual BIOS switch – if it does, try flipping that. Also, keep in mind that your 6700K can bottleneck that GPU, so you might want to think about upgrading your CPU in the future!

I’ll look for that dual BIOS switch. I'm already considering an upgrade since I want to get the most out of the GPU!

You should definitely try using your integrated GPU to boot into Windows. It can help you see if the RX 6900 XT is recognized in Device Manager. If it shows up there after trying to reinstall drivers, you might be in luck! Otherwise, it’s possible the card is not functioning as it should.

Yeah, I plugged in the monitor to the motherboard but AMD couldn’t even detect the RX 6900 XT.

The fans not spinning could be a key indicator. Did they spin up at all after you turned it on? If not, that might be a problem with the card itself. Also, PCIe compatibility shouldn't be an issue - older versions work fine with newer cards. I'd recommend connecting your display to the motherboard’s HDMI port and using the integrated GPU. Then try uninstalling your Nvidia drivers completely and installing the latest AMD drivers. That might help!

I never saw the fans spin at all. Should I try powering it down and reconnecting everything?
