I just passed the AWS SAA-C03 exam after a tough journey! My background is not in IT; I was previously teaching JEE Maths. Diving into the cloud and IT world was quite overwhelming for me at first, as many concepts didn't make much sense initially. I put in a lot of effort to catch up, focusing on building a solid foundation first.
Here's what I did to prepare:
- Learned Linux fundamentals
- Familiarized myself with Git and GitHub
- Started David Bombal's CCNA 200-301 course for networking basics
Despite my preparations, AWS was challenging. What really helped me was rewatching lectures until I understood them, using AI tools for better comprehension, taking daily quizzes, practicing with TD exams, and revising everything a couple of times before the test. There were many tough moments, but persistence paid off, and I'm now moving on to learn Terraform to pursue a career in DevOps.
I'm now looking for advice on what to focus on next to become job-ready as soon as possible. What kinds of real-world projects should I work on? How can I break into the industry without an IT background? Any roadmap suggestions for a career in DevOps or as a Cloud Engineer would be greatly appreciated! My goal is to keep learning and land a job quickly, so I'm open to any practical advice.
