PC Crash Caused Artifacts and BSOD – Is My GPU Toast?

Hey everyone! So, my PC crashed hard while I was playing a game, specifically during the character selection screen in Marvel Rivals. After that, I noticed some serious artifacting on my GPU. In the device manager, it's showing that the GPU is 'disabled by Windows due to problem,' and I'm not sure if that's a normal error. The weird part is that the artifacting seems to react when I move my mouse around, even affecting the cursor!

I managed to boot into Windows and see my desktop, but it was super laggy, and I couldn't run any GPU-dependent programs (I don't have an integrated GPU). Now, though, my PC just keeps looping into a BSOD when I try to start up normally, although I can still access the BIOS. Do you think my GPU is fried, or could it be something else?

Do you have any backup image or restore point you could use? If not, just keep in mind it might be more of a hardware issue, especially if you can't even run Windows consistently. Sometimes a hard crash can cause problems like this, but it’s still worth checking if your GPU is really the culprit or if something else is involved. Hang in there!

Yeah, I don’t have a backup or restore point to fall back on. It really sucks because I’m pretty sure it’s a hardware issue.

It sounds like your GPU might be having some serious issues. First thing you should check is for any dump files that Windows might have created during the BSODs. If you can get to Safe Mode or even into Windows, look for dump files in C:WindowsMinidump. If you find some, zip them up and upload them somewhere like catbox.moe, so we can diagnose the problem. You want to have multiple files if you can. And don't worry, it’s not uncommon to see artifacting like that if the GPU is failing. Let us know what you find!
