Picking Between the 5070 and 5070 Ti for My First Build

I'm diving into my first PC build and need help choosing between the 5070 and the 5070 Ti graphics cards. I'm planning to pair either card with a Ryzen 7800X3D CPU. I've managed to snag both cards at retail prices: a Gigabyte 5070 Ti and a Founders Edition 5070. I've heard mixed things about the 5070, especially since it doesn't stack up well against the 40 series GPUs. But considering it's my first build and I can't find a 4070 Super for under $750, I'm leaning towards the 5070. My main focus is on gaming at 1440p on my new OLED Alienware ultrawide monitor. I'm not too fussed about high refresh rates; anything above 75 FPS works for me, as I mostly play story-driven games. My question is: will the 5070 hold up for ultra settings at 1440p over the next four years? Or should I invest the extra $250 for the 5070 Ti?

I’d recommend going with the 5070 Ti. It offers a noticeable performance boost over the 5070, especially at 1440p gaming. Since you’re planning to keep this build for a while, the extra $250 is likely worth it to future-proof your setup a bit more. Plus, it should handle ultra settings much better than the 5070, giving you a smoother gaming experience overall!

Thanks for the input! Is the 5070 Ti significantly better? While money isn’t an issue, I do care a lot about getting the most value. So if I’m spending 40% more on the Ti, it feels like it’s not as worth it. Absolutely open to hearing why it IS worth it though!

The 5070 Ti really does have better specs for 1440p, which can be crucial for games that are graphically intensive. If you want things like ray tracing and higher frame rates, the Ti is the way to go!
