Hey everyone! I'm gearing up to build a mid-tower gaming PC with a budget around 2,000 AUD. My main goal is to optimize it for 1440p gaming at max settings. I'm aiming for a solid foundation that can handle AAA single-player and strategy games like Horizon Forbidden West, God of War, and Civilization VII without needing any component swaps for the first 5 years. After that, I plan to only upgrade the CPU and GPU to keep it going for another 5 years before a complete rebuild. So, I'm looking for a setup that gives me minimal up-front costs, maximum longevity, and performance, with a refresh of just the CPU and GPU after five years. Here's my current parts list:
- **CPU:** AMD Ryzen 5 7600X (6-Core, 4.7 GHz) – $311.13
- **CPU Cooler:** Thermalright Peerless Assassin 120 SE (66.17 CFM) – $59.00
- **Motherboard:** Gigabyte B650M GAMING PLUS WIFI (Micro ATX, AM5) – $175.00
- **Memory:** TEAMGROUP T-Force Vulcan 32 GB (2x16 GB) DDR5-6000 CL30 – $165.00
- **Storage:** Klevv CRAS C910 2 TB M.2 PCIe 4.0 x4 NVMe SSD – $159.00
- **Graphics Card:** PowerColor Hellhound OC Radeon RX 9070 XT 16 GB – $1199.00
- **Case:** Montech XR ATX Mid Tower – $79.00
- **Power Supply:** Montech CENTURY II 850W 80+ Gold (Fully Modular ATX) – $145.00
**Total Cost:** $2292.13 AUD. Any thoughts or suggestions to help me finalize this build?

Your AM5 setup looks solid, and you're right, swapping AMD CPUs in the future should keep you relevant. The 9070XT is a great choice for 1440p gaming, and if you keep performance updates in mind, it should last you well past the 5-year mark. Just keep an eye on prices; you might want to consider the 5070ti if it drops significantly! But yeah, you have a great base here!
Aw cheers man! Any recommendations at all to change anything or do you think it's all good? Btw, 5070 12GB is cheaper than the 9070XT, but 5070ti is really pricey here.
