Preparing for Linux: What You Need to Know Before Dual-Booting

I'm gearing up to install Linux on my PC after spending a few days researching different distributions. I've decided on Nobara since it caters to gaming while also providing a user-friendly desktop environment for tasks like coding, 3D modeling, and browsing the internet. I plan to set up a dual-boot system with Windows on my main 2TB drive and Linux on a dedicated 256GB SSD that I've been clearing out. My biggest concern is how to keep access to my files on the Windows drive. I've read that Linux can access Windows files, but I'm uncertain about the process involved. Additionally, I have a bunch of games from Steam, and I'm curious if I'll need to redownload all of them or if I can somehow share the same Steam library between the two systems. It would definitely make my life easier if there's a way to avoid duplicates, although I understand it might be complicated on Linux.

To access your Windows files from Linux, you’ll need to disable BitLocker and Fast Startup. This will make it straightforward to get to your data. As for sharing a Steam library, there is a method, but it's not officially supported, so it might lead to issues. A good approach is to keep your Linux games on one partition and Windows-only games on another to avoid confusion and duplicates.

Yeah, doesn't sound worth the hassle just to share the library! Appreciate the insight!

You might want to check out some migration guides available online! There are resources that provide tips for transitioning from Windows to Linux. Just remember to be cautious about installing software from third-party sources and always verify your ISOs to avoid problems later on!
