Problems with Previewing or Downloading Attachments in Outlook and OWA for One User

I'm facing a strange issue with one user in our organization who suddenly can't preview or download various attachment types (especially XLSX and PDF files) in both the new Outlook and OWA. It's particularly odd because everything was perfectly fine as of last Friday, but then it just stopped working over the weekend. There are no relevant service alerts on our tenant's health page, and her account has had no administrative changes. What's even weirder is that the issue persists even when she tries different devices or browsers; it happens across multiple locations. However, using Outlook Classic works without a hitch. I've wondered if this is a mailbox corruption issue or perhaps a slow rollout by Microsoft affecting only her account. I've opened a ticket with Microsoft, but I know how that can go. I'm reaching out to see if anyone else has experienced this issue or has any thoughts on it.

Have you tried sending a new email with multiple attachments to see if the problem persists? It might be useful to test that out instead of only focusing on existing emails.

We encountered something similar with another user. Switching their license from Business Premium to E3 cleared up the issue. I've found that with Microsoft products, sometimes you just have to try things that make no sense to get a solution. It’s frustrating!

You might want to try converting her mailbox to a shared mailbox temporarily, then removing the license for about 24 hours before putting it back. I know this seems like a long shot, but sometimes it can help reset things. I’m not too hopeful about support from Microsoft, though. They can really drag their feet on these things.

I’m dealing with the exact same issue for a different user! Perfectly fine last Friday, but now it’s just her account that’s acting up. Seems account-specific for sure.
