Questions About Building My First PC: Cables, Fans, and Setup Tips

I'm diving into building my first PC, and I have a few questions. When purchasing components like the motherboard, PSU, GPU, and fans, do they usually come with all the necessary cables, or should I expect to buy extra ones? Also, I've seen that some fans can be set to either intake or exhaust—how does that work? Additionally, do manuals provide enough guidance for connecting the right cables? Finally, are there any important things I should know as a newbie to PC building?

Most likely, if you buy all the main components, you’ll have what you need. However, it’s wise to grab a USB splitter, especially if you plan to install multiple fans. If they’re RGB fans, a fan controller could also be helpful. Regarding fan setup, remember that the airflow direction with fans generally means the side with the visible blades is the intake. For first-time builders, I can’t stress enough how important it is to be patient! Read your motherboard manual for guidance, and make sure to properly seat the RAM and CPU. Also, remember to plug your HDMI into the graphics card, not the motherboard!

I’m planning to have seven fans in my case, do I really need a USB splitter then? And how do I activate the XMP profile for my memory?

Generally, when you buy a motherboard, PSU, GPU, and fans, you shouldn't need to buy extra cables. The only time you might need additional cables is if you're dealing with internal USB or fan hubs, depending on your specific setup. As for fans, most can be configured as either intake or exhaust. If you see fans labeled "reverse," that just means the orientation is flipped; they can work in cases designed to show off the cleaner side. For manuals, they vary a lot, so don’t rely on them entirely for cable connections. Just take your time and double-check everything!

Got it! So I should be good with the cables that come with the parts. Any tips on avoiding mistakes during setup?
