Received a Scary Email with My Password – Should I Be Worried?

I often get spam emails, but this recent one caught my attention because it had my actual password and mentioned a login attempt on my Epic Games account. The email was sent from my own address, so I changed my password there, but I didn't change my Epic Games password since I have 2FA set up. Am I safe, or should I be concerned about someone potentially watching me?

Don't stress too much! This is a common scam, and likely they just found your password from a previous data leak. Just changing your passwords and keeping an eye on your accounts should do the trick. Remember to update your passwords regularly and use unique ones for different accounts.

Thanks! That eases my mind a bit. I felt like this one was different because they had my password.

You're good! Believe it or not, these emails are designed to scare you into paying up, but they often don’t have anything. Just ensure your accounts are secure, especially with 2FA active. You're doing fine, really!

I got a similar email a while back claiming they had recordings of me. They used an old password that I hadn't used in years. Once I recognized it was just a scam, I ignored it. Remember, if you have 2FA, it adds a solid layer of security!

This type of email aims to exploit fears. The address can easily be spoofed, which means it's not actually from your account. Just stay cautious, and double-check that your 2FA settings are robust on all important accounts, especially your email.

That’s what I figured! I’m definitely keeping a close eye on everything.
