Recommendations for a Budget GPU After a Thunderstorm Incident?

Hey everyone, I've recently had a lightning strike that took out my PS5, TV, and my RTX 2080 Super GPU while everything was plugged into surge protectors. I'm now on the lookout for a budget-friendly GPU that can perform comparably to my old one to get my PC back on track. I've heard mixed opinions about the RTX 5060 series, but it seems like a decent upgrade for the price of around $400. My main question is whether the RTX 5060 Ti 16GB is a solid choice for the money?

Before you decide on the 5060 Ti 16GB, you should be aware that while it uses x8 PCIe lanes, which is fine compared to PCIe 4.0 x16 lanes, you might experience a slight performance dip since your previous 2080 Super was PCIe 3.0. Digital Foundry has benchmarked it, and it might not be a deal breaker. If performance is crucial, consider going for a 9060 XT 16GB which operates on x16 PCIe 5.0, or spend a bit more on a 5070.

Thanks for the insights! I've confirmed my motherboard can handle PCIe 4.0, so it looks like the performance impact won't be too drastic.

Why not consider a 3060 or 3060 Ti? They’re solid options too and performing well. The 5060 Ti is a decent choice but may be slightly pricier for what you get.

Honestly, the 5060 Ti 16GB is a great value for what you're looking for. It performs similarly to the 2080 Super and comes with newer Nvidia features. Just make sure to grab the 16GB variant for smoother performance!

I appreciate your input! The new features like the advanced frame generation sound really appealing.

You might want to check out the used market! I recently found a 3070 for just $200, which is pretty much on par with the 2080 Super.

I've looked into used, but I'm not too interested in that option. The newer tech of the 5000 series does seem appealing. I was actually hoping for an RTX 4070 Super, but they're hard to find.

Just a heads up, the RTX 5060 and 5060 Ti utilize only 8x PCIe lanes, not the full 16. What's your current CPU and motherboard? I'd like to know which PCIe generation you're working with for the GPU.

I have an X570-E motherboard with a Ryzen 9 3900x, so I’m using PCIe 4.0. From what I've read, the performance difference should be minimal.
