Recommendations for Replacing My GPU on an Older System

Hey everyone, my GPU stopped working after my PC sat idle for two months, and after taking both the GPU and PSU to a local shop, I found out that the PSU is fine, but the GPU is completely dead. My setup includes an Asus B85 Plus motherboard, an i7 4790k CPU, 32GB of DDR3 RAM, and a DarkForce 600W PSU. I'm not looking to upgrade my CPU or motherboard, and I won't switch to Windows 11 because my CPU isn't supported. I want a new GPU focused on gaming that can handle UE5 titles at decent quality without breaking the bank. My previous GPU was an Asus R9 270X 3GB, which served me well, but I know I need something newer. I'm hoping for recommendations on GPUs with high VRAM and minimal known issues. Any advice would be appreciated, as I feel out of the loop with all the changes in graphics cards over the last decade!

Honestly, with a 4th Gen Intel CPU, your gaming options will be somewhat limited. For your specs, I'd recommend looking at a GTX 1070 or 1080. Both are solid options that could fit your needs, but you might experience some CPU bottlenecking in more demanding games. It's also worth considering a replacement for your PSU just for peace of mind, even if it passed the tests.

I would go for either a GTX 1070, 1080, or even a 1660 Super. Windows 10 is still perfectly fine for gaming, even if Microsoft has stopped its support. If you lean towards a 5500XT or 5700XT, just be aware that there might be a slight CPU bottleneck, but it shouldn’t ruin your experience. The only downside of choosing something like a 1080 or 1660 Super is that you might have to replace those sooner when you eventually upgrade your CPU and motherboard.
