Good evening, everyone! I'm excited to build my first PC and I'd like your help. I'm considering a setup with a Ryzen 5 5600, an ASRock B450M motherboard, 32GB of DDR4 RAM, a 650W Zumax power supply, and a cool case with fans. I found this build for $550 on a marketplace and I'm thinking about pairing it with a 9070 XT. Do you think this setup will be future-proof enough? Also, is using DDR4 RAM a drawback? Will I miss out on performance?

Honestly, the 9070 XT may cost more than the entire build! If you're gaming at 4K, it might work, but you'd probably be bottlenecked by the Ryzen 5 5600 at lower resolutions. DDR4 is still decent for now; it's not like you can run DDR5 with that CPU anyway. My biggest concern is the power supply; I've never heard of Zumax and that's a critical component. I'd suggest finding a more reliable PSU, which can influence the total value of this marketplace deal.
I guess I could check for a more budget-friendly PSU. Right now, I'm gaming at 1080p, but I might upgrade to 1440p eventually.
The Ryzen 5 5600 and AM4 platform aren't exactly what I'd call 'future-proof' since they feel a bit entry-level right now. We're already on the second generation of AM5 CPUs. If you're looking for better longevity, something like a 5700X3D or a 5800X3D would be ideal, but they're pricey. However, the combination of the 5600 and 9070 XT will still give you great performance, especially at 1440p. It's not a bad deal if that's your budget.
That makes sense. Right now, I only game at 1080p, so I'm okay with the performance. I just want to make sure I can play the latest games at good settings for a while.
I appreciate the insight! I'm just hoping it won't feel outdated too quickly.

For sure! If you're not gaming at 4K, you might find that the CPU starts to hold you back quite a bit. The 5600 is solid for now, but if you're looking to go the distance, consider an AM5 setup with a newer CPU down the road.
